Geothermal exchange is the transfer of heat to and from the earth to provide heating, cooling and hot water for residential and commercial buildings. Unlike fluctuating outdoor temperatures, the earth is a relatively constant 52 degrees six feet below the surface.
The geothermal ground source heat pump system consists of three major components: a heat pump unit in the building, the ground loop for the heat exchange and the ductwork to deliver the air.
Our highly trained technicians at Connecticut Valley Artesian Well Co Inc are capable of installing this state-of-the-art heating and cooling system.
Geothermal Energy Uses 3 Major Components
The geothermal ground source heat pump system consists of three major components:
Geothermal Systems are More Efficient
In the winter, the circulating fluid in the ground loop absorbs heat that is stored on the earth. The unit in the building compresses the heat to a higher temperature and distributes it through the ductwork.
The system reverses itself in the summer to pull heat from the building and transfers it to the cooler earth.
Save Money With Geothermal Heat
Geothermal ground source heat pump systems are now obtaining 400% to 500% efficiency.
For every dollar you put into it (electricity to run the pump, compressor and fan) you get back $4-5 dollars of energy.
Did you know 100% of geothermal energy is derived from the sun? Clouds both reflect and absorb 21% of that energy. Water vapor and dust in the atmosphere absorb another 19%.
And while the earth's surfaces reflect an additional 6%, almost one-half (47%) of the total energy created by the sun is captured by the ground. The earth, acting like a solar battery, stays a relatively constant temperature through the seasons, providing a warm source in winter and a cool sink in summer.
There is a 26% federal tax credit on geothermal heating and cooling systems through December 31, 2022. Massachusetts Alternate Energy Credits. Rebates available up to $4,500 and interest-free financing from the Massachusetts Department Of Energy Resources Refund. I cannot say enough positive about their responsiveness to my emergency service requests over the years and most recently over the last weekend. Since pump/well installation in 1997 in my new home they have proven very reliable and repairs are A-1. Do not hesitate to engage this company; you will not be disappointed!!
